Reeve Rainer Encourages Citizen Interest and Voting in the Municipal Election

On behalf of Tay Valley Township I strongly encourage every citizen in the Township to take interest in the 2026 municipal election period now underway, and in the specific candidates vying for public service. For those citizens eligible to vote, I strongly encourage you to be sure you are registered to vote, and that you actually vote on Election Day, Monday, October 26. Extensive election-related information, including how to register to vote, is available here.

As of August 23rd, the Unofficial list of Candidates shows two candidates for Reeve, three candidates for Deputy Reeve, three candidates for each of the two ward seats in Bathurst and Burgess wards, and two candidates in Sherbrooke ward who, because there are no additional candidates in that ward, will be acclaimed to be part of the 2026-2030 Council. I congratulate Mike Champagne and Martin Whan in Sherbrooke ward, and following their inauguration in November, I wish them well in their municipal service.

In the coming days and weeks, leading up to the election, the Township shall publish further posts from me. I shall highlight many things that the Township has accomplished in the 2022-2026 term of Council. I shall also provide information in response to various controversial issues that have arisen in the current Council term. I will be pleased to answer respectful questions or respond to respectful comments about anything regarding Township business, or the election. I welcome being contacted at rrainer.reeve@tayvalleytwp.ca.

Rob Rainer, Reeve
