Job Posting - Heavy Equipment Operator 2026 (Full-Time)
Tay Valley Township is seeking a full-time Heavy Equipment Operator. Reporting to the Public Works Manager, the Heavy Equipment Operator will operate all heavy equipment as required to fulfill assigned duties including trucks, snow plows, back hoes, loaders and graders and will maintain roads in accordance with established standards, identify road related problems, conduct daily inspections and maintain equipment in a safe operating condition, perform general building and facility maintenance, respond to emergency situations, among other public works related duties. As the preferred candidate you will have exceptional customer service skills and have a solid understanding of safety rules and the use of personal protective equipment. The successful candidate will have working experience in a related area, be able to work with minimal supervision, and be willing to participate in training. Demonstrated experience working with the public is a requirement. You must possess excellent communication skills, strong time management and organizational skills, and a proficiency in English, written and spoken. A Class D driver’s license with a “Z” endorsement is a requirement. Experience in a municipal environment would be considered an asset.
The wage range is $30.25 to $33.61 (2025 rates, under review) per hour, based on a 40-hour work week. A comprehensive benefit package is available to all employees.
