COVID-19

Please note all waste sites remain open at this time.  As waste site amenities are not sanitized, the public is asked to ensure they are adhering to the strict social distancing guidelines (6 feet apart) and are taking the following precautions while visiting the waste sites:

  • stay home if you are feeling unwell
  • wash your hands frequently
  • keep a safe distance of 6 feet or 2 metres from those around you
  • avoid touching your face

Garbage Bags and Bag Tags

Clear plastic garbage bags must be used for household waste disposal. 

Each property is allotted 20 bag tags per year.

Waste Site Locations

There is one active landfill site in Tay Valley Township located at Glen Tay, and two transfer stations: one at Stanleyville and one at Maberly, where household waste and recyclables are collected and transferred off-site.

  • Radioactive waste
  • Compact Florescent Light (CFL) bulbs and fluorescent tubes (can be recycled at Ikea stores)
  • Mercury (thermometers, thermostats)
  • Animal carcasses
