Home/Resident Services/Garbage and Recycling/Batteries

Battery Waste includes, but is not limited to, household batteries AA, AAA, C, D and 9 volt, and batteries from items such as portable radios, flashlights, smoke alarms, pagers, cell phones, laptop computers, UPS systems, hearing aids, watches and back-up power systems, but shall not include auto batteries.

  • No Tipping Fee
  • Accepted at all Waste Sites and at the Municipal Office

Tay Valley Township has partnered with Raw Materials Company Inc. to recycle household batteries. The most common sources of dry cell battery waste are from the following items:

  • Portable radios
  • FlashlightsAlkaline and Rechargeable Battery Bin

  • Pagers
  • Cellphones
  • Laptops
  • Cameras
  • UPS sytems
  • Hearing aids
  • Watches
  • Backup power systems
