Committees of Council

Committee meetings, which generally consist of the entire council, are where most of the debate and recommendations for Council are made.   Effective June 1, 2003 Council has adjusted its Committee of the Whole meeting schedule from a topic specific meeting format (ie. Public Works, Community Services) to a format where agenda items will be determined by priority status. 

• Committee of the Whole meetings continue to be held on the 1^st and 3^rd Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m.  
• Council meetings are held on the 2^nd and 4^th Tuesday and begin at 7:00 p.m. 

Committee of the Whole offers an informal opportunity to debate issues, review options and determine a recommendation or course of action.  These recommendations are then brought forward to the regular Council meetings for adoption, revision, deferral, or rejection. 

The public, therefore, is encouraged to attend the Committee of the Whole meetings. Persons wishing to be heard before a committee shall notify the Clerk by Thursday at 12 noon the week before the committee meeting so that, in consultation with the chairperson, the Clerk may make proper time allocation on the committee's agenda.
